Progeny Enrichment (Wu Zi Yan Zong Wan) was derived from Zhang Shiche’s “The Wonderful Remedy for All the Living Beings”, published in 1550’s Ming Dynasty. According to historical records, a man named Zhang Guo dedicated this formula to the then Chinese emperor Tang Xuanzong, thus making this formula famous. Because the names of the five Chinese herbal medicines in the ingredients all have the word “Zi”, it is named Wuzi.
The formula has the effect of invigorating the kidney and strengthening the essence. It is a commonly used prescription for improving kidney and essence deficiency. The symptom basis for clinical application of Progeny Enrichment is low sperm motility and sperm count, infertility, weakness of waist and knees, fatigue, low libido, nocturnal emission, impotence, premature ejaculation, pale tongue, and weak pulse.
