Duo Citro Tea (Er Chen Tang) supports the body when phlegm and dampness start to build up and affect both digestion and the chest. First recorded in Tai Ping Hui Min He Ji Ju Fang (Imperial Grace Formulary of the Tai Ping Era) in 1078–85, it became one of the best-known formulas for phlegm patterns in Chinese herbal medicine. It remains a trusted choice when the body feels heavy, the chest or stomach feels full, and phlegm becomes difficult to clear.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, practitioners choose Duo Citro Tea when dampness builds up and turns into phlegm. The chest may feel full. The stomach may feel unsettled. Nausea, dizziness, sticky saliva, or easy-to-bring-up white phlegm may appear. The body may also feel heavy, tired, or sluggish.
Many choose this formula for chronic phlegm, chest fullness, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, bronchitis, and digestive discomfort linked to damp-phlegm. It suits those who want support when the body feels weighed down by mucus, heaviness, and poor fluid metabolism.
What makes Duo Citro Tea so useful is its versatility. It does not only target phlegm in one area. It helps when phlegm affects the lungs, stomach, digestion, or the body’s general sense of heaviness and stagnation. This makes it a strong choice for natural support when mucus, dampness, and sluggish digestion all appear together.
Research on Duo Citro Tea has shown encouraging results in chronic bronchitis, digestive function, lipid balance, and phlegm-damp patterns. Studies have reported improvements in cough, phlegm, inflammatory regulation, gastric function, and microbiome-related metabolic balance. This gives Duo Citro Tea strong modern relevance and supports its traditional use when phlegm, heaviness, and digestive discomfort keep returning.
