Consolidate Qi

R226.00

A traditional formula for digestion, loose stools, and rebuilding strength

Consolidate Qi (Shen Ling Bai Zhu San) supports the body when weak digestion, loose stools, and low energy start to wear a person down. It was made by adding strengthening Spleen and removing Dampness herbs to the Four Gentlemen Formula. First recorded in Tai Ping Hui Min He Ji Ju Fang (Imperial Grace Formulary of the Tai Ping Era) in 1078–85, it has long been used to strengthen digestion, support nutrient absorption, and reduce dampness at its root. It remains a trusted choice when the body feels tired, heavy, bloated, and unable to recover properly from ongoing digestive weakness.

When to use it

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, practitioners choose Consolidate Qi when the digestive system grows weak and starts to struggle with food and fluids. Appetite may drop. Bloating may increase. Loose stools or ongoing diarrhoea may become more common. The body may also feel tired, heavy, or less resilient than before.

Many choose this formula for poor digestion, chronic diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal distension, fatigue, and damp patterns linked to weak digestive function. It also suits those who need steady support after long periods of digestive imbalance, repeated gut upset, or poor absorption.

Why it stands out

What makes Consolidate Qi so useful is its gentle but steady approach. It does not only try to stop loose stools. It helps strengthen the digestive system itself, so the body can process food and fluids more effectively over time. This makes it a strong choice for natural support when digestive weakness keeps returning and deeper rebuilding is needed.

Research

Research on Consolidate Qi has shown encouraging results in digestive health, bowel recovery, immune support, and microbiome balance. Studies have reported improved gut barrier function, reduced inflammatory activity, better symptom control in colitis and diarrhoea patterns, and helpful shifts in beneficial gut bacteria. This gives Consolidate Qi strong modern relevance and supports its traditional use when long-term digestive weakness affects energy, absorption, and overall resilience.

Case:

Edited by Yu Zhen in the Qing Dynasty, published in 1778 in “Ancient and Modern Medical Records”:

A woman has diarrhoea for three days before every menstruation. Her pulse is weak.

Diagnosis: Spleen deficiency fails to transform dampness and causes diarrhoea. She took Consolidate Qi powder, 3 grams 2 to 3 times a day, each time with rice porridge. After taking the medicine for a month, the diarrhoea disappeared before her menstruation.
